Macau What?

Craziness!!!! When I initially think of China, I picture a crowded, dirty, and noisy place. It wasn't until Amanda was offered the job that I really did some research on Macau and discovered that it is truly quite tropical and much different than the preconceived image I had in my head. Macau is a peninsula (Macau) with 2 islands (Taipa and Coloane) located in the SE corner of China. Macau is only a total of 26 sq kms with a population of ~500,000 people, primarily chinese, but also portuguese, aussies and westerners. Macau is only a 1-hour jetfoil ferry ride to Hong Kong to the east across the Pearl River.

Macau is the Las Vegas of the orient, as it is the only place where gambling is legal in Asia. There are dozens of hotels and resorts such as the Wynn Macau, Venetian, Hard Rock etc. The Venetian is currently the world's largest building!

Amanda's and the kids' school is located on Taipa, which is where we most likely will live and where the majority of westerners also live. So the official contracts have been signed and delivered so all we have to do now is make the house look pretty, sell it, sell a lot of other stuff and we're off! Man are we all excited to go!!!! We'll keep you posted on how things go prior to the move.
